Patricia Lock-Dawson is an effective communicator, advocate and governmental affairs professional, positioning clients for success with key elected and community decision makers. A practiced leader of strategic initiatives for sustainability, diversity and inclusion in education and environmental program areas, she is an elected official, business owner, and appointee. First elected in 2011, she is in her second term on the Riverside Unified School District Board of Trustees. She is also a two-time gubernatorial appointee to the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences and past Chairman of the Riverside City Planning Commission.
Ms. Lock Dawson is THE champion for the 100-mile long Santa Ana River, which flows from the crest of the San Bernardino Mountains to the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Since 2003, she’s worked to “Put the River Back in Riverside” garnering millions for projects to improve habitat and recreational opportunities. She created the Santa Ana River Partnership, a regional coalition of counties, cities, water agencies and nonprofits. She also established the Santa Ana River Trust, a non-profit community-involvement program and in 2014 helped craft legislation to create the Santa Ana River Conservancy.
She also serves on several other boards, including the Rivers and Lands Conservancy, Riverside Art Museum and UCR Alumni Board. She has been honored for her service, recognized by Assembly member Jose Medina as a 61st District Woman of Distinction, received the Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful’s Lady Bird Johnson Award and was also honored as Appointee of the Year by California Women Lead. In 2018, she was selected by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce as the Leadership Riverside Distinguished Alumni of the Year. Ms. Lock Dawson is passionate about the arts and community building. She is also active in service organizations such as the National Charity League and the Raincross Group, among others. She is married and has three children.
